I love it when someone accuses me of playing as a girl, because girls are playing these days is much harder than when I was little. Title IX is to only make an impact in the sport when I was in school. In 1972, received as Title IX, a federal law that schools and universities, federal funds to provide equal opportunities for male and female students, it was found that there is no need to be fair requests. The boys had several opportunities for sport and the girls were cheerleaders. Even then I knew it had to be a cheerleader. The development of sports programs for girls and young women still faced some tough battles for equality. Sports programs are configured to be constantly in order to finance the new sport. Although assumed to be equal, are the programs of many girls still lower than those for children’s programs like children.
So, what does this have to do with thinking? Well, this shows that we are limited as to our beliefs. If you think small, you are going to play a safe game. The choice of looking at the overall picture, however, opens the field to a wide range of options to help you achieve your potential. Not only children who are interested in an athlete. More girls to participate in sports than ever. The benefits are far reaching, beyond the playing field.
• Health
• Emotional benefits
• The scope of services
• Teamwork
• Leadership
• Opportunities for career
With so many positive aspects of sport, why not do it for all our children? Even today, some of the myths continue to cloud the athletes of the girl. As a youth psychological and sociological extra pressure has a strong influence on many of their decisions.
• As a girl will be very athletic and muscular
• Some sports are not acceptable for girls who are too dangerous
• Girls are not as interested in sports, children are
• Sports Only tomboys
• Contact sports are for children
• I do not know how they look in their uniforms, because of the size of the body
• Take time off from school and friends
Now it’s time to break the old myths. We do a good job, but we can do much better. Before Title IX, only 1 in 27 girls played all sports. No wonder I never had the chance. The National Federation of State High School Associations, said that statistics are now 1 in every 2.5 women in sport.
There are many girls who are falling through the cracks. Budget cuts, the lack of women coaches and support to poor families, contribute to the decision of a sporty girl. “The high schools in the United States are not providing opportunities for girls to participate in sports, and some are even cutting back on sports opportunities so as to exacerbate existing inequalities between the sexes or to create new ones”, as reported, The National Law Center for Women. The advantages of its assets, man or woman, far outweigh the risks. The self-confidence, better grades in school are more physical and mental health through sport according to a study by the World Health Organization increased. It ‘s our duty to give all our children the opportunity to be an athlete. With our support, we can make a difference in their lives. Activities: If you, your team or team jerseys you see problems or opportunities to try? It ‘s easy to focus, what goes wrong, blame others. The leaders, however, looking for opportunities. What you can do now to be part of the solution? Make a list of solutions that will help you and your team. Then you choose a solution that can be implemented immediately.
